Committed to the future of health in Asia

APFID is a non-profit foundation established to address the urgent need for international cooperation to control and prevent infectious diseases, which remain the leading cause of death worldwide. The Foundation focuses on the Asia-Pacific region, where the threat of antimicrobial resistance is most critical, and supports research programs such as the Asian Network for Surveillance of Resistant Pathogens (ANSORP), the Asian Bacterial Bank (ABB), and the Infectious Disease Research Institute (IDRI). APFID also organizes the biennial International Symposium on Antimicrobial Agents and Resistance (ISAAR) to facilitate scientific exchange and collaboration on infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance. In addition to research, APFID has launched the international campaign "STOP, Superbug", which promotes public awareness of the appropriate use of antibiotics and aims to control antimicrobial resistance in the Asia-Pacific region. By collaborating with various institutions, organizations, industries and scientific societies, APFID aims to contribute to the improvement of public health not only in the Asia-Pacific region but globally.

Contribute to the pivotal exchange of state-of-the-art information and data

ISAAR is a major global conference with a strong focus on antimicrobial resistance, antimicrobial treatment, new antimicrobial agents and vaccines, and future strategies against infectious diseases. It has become the most representative international event on antimicrobial resistance and infectious diseases in the Asia-Pacific region. The conference aims to facilitate the exchange of state-of-the-art information and data on infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance worldwide, covering key topics such as epidemiology, resistance mechanisms, pathogenesis, clinical impact, new drug development, and prevention and treatment guidelines. This cutting-edge information can help promote global solutions to the challenge of infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance. ISAAR is truly the world's premier congress on antimicrobial agents, resistance and major infectious disease issues.
The Hong Kong Society for Infectious Diseases (HKSID) was founded in 1995.
